About Us

We’re on a quest to help people live independently in their home.

We are a mother-daughter duo on a quest to create the ideal home. Whether you're a caregiver, the child of aging parents, a senior, a person with disabilities, or someone recovering from a temporary injury, everyday tasks can become friction points that add up over the course of the day. What if simple, low-tech tools could make life just a little bit easier? Moments of ease and independence add up to create a better quality of life!

Pam (mom!) is a professional caregiver, and holds a Master's in Health Services Administration from the University of Washington School of Public Health and focused on long-term care administration. Allison (daughter!) is also a professional caregiver, and holds a Master's in Human-Computer Interaction from University College London. She published her dissertation exploring a novel tool for people with ALS with members of the Global Disability Innovation Hub in London.

Through experience and professional expertise, we have created "Surprisingly Helpful" to share our best ideas with the world. If you have any feedback or have a product you love (or created!) that would be a great addition to the site, please reach out! We'd love to hear from you.
